The Claddagh Ring - Sacred Sites - Baile Bhuirne, Co Cork
An Fia Ban - Wear this Ring when you need a reminder that we are magic.
This is the first of a series of rings which have been taken on a journey to a sacred site in Ireland. Here, each ring you purchase has been sanctified by my intentions for you and steeped in the holy well water of St Gobnait’s Well in Baile Bhuirne, Co Cork in Ireland.
On the 1st November, the day after Halloween, when in Ireland we speak of the veil between the worlds being at it’s thinnest, I took a magical trip with the Claddagh Ring. It was new moon. I travelled with two other magical women and it felt like everything was mystically, magically aligned.
We visited St Gobnait’s well and Abbey. According to the 6th Century fable, St Gobnait was told by an angel that she would find her soul home or resurrection in the place in which she would encounter 9 white deer. It was there she was meant to set up an Abbey and a church.
We sat by a yew tree (one of the 5 guardian trees of Irleand) in the cemetery and had a picnic, we paid tribute to the Sile na Gig (an ancient symbol of fertility). I was reminded that St Gobnait was a beekeeper and patron Saint of bees and beekeeping. It is said that the bees would listen to her and go where she asked them to go, with stories about her using the bees for protection..
In some Celtic Mythology white deer were considered to be messengers from and to the otherworld, representing the sacredness of all living things, sometimes being seen as shapeshifters. The Lenape Indians have a prophecy that a time would come when a white male and white female deer would be seen together and that this would be a sign that people would come together.
Each of the rings which come through this portal are endowed with the spirit of this time and place and the waters of this enchanted West Cork Well. Perhaps the ring will heighten your sensitivity to the magical realms. It will help you. Touch it when you need a reminder that we are magic. Our souls have inhabited these lands for centuries, perhaps forever. All this wisdom is within you.
Please let me know your ring size at check out. With the ring you will receive a piece of Art.
Thank you.
